Topic: Spiritual Fervency in the Family [Part 2]

Dear Reader,

Welcome once again to God’s guidance concerning family matters. Last week, I taught on what spiritual fervency means! I said it is the intense, strong, sincere and passionate devotion to God.
Today, I would like to talk briefly on The Need for Spiritual Fervency. The Word of God says: For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God (Romans 8:5, 8).

It is a Commandment from God
To be fervent in the spirit is a commandment directly from God and not man. God commands you and I to be fervent in the spirit. When you are spiritually fervent, you are simply obeying the commandment of God. As we read in Romans 12:11 which says: Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. God’s Word makes it clear to us that His commandments are not grievous.

The Bible says: For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous (1 John 5:3). My husband Dr. David Oyedepo, humorously says that “God’s commandment are not to grieve us, but they are to groom us.” His commandments are to prepare us and to get us set for the place where we ought to be. As a family, when you are spiritually fervent, you are obeying God’s commandment, if you are not, you are simply disobeying His commandment. You will not be found a disobedient child of God in Jesus’ name!

The Whole World Lies in Wickedness
It is therefore, a requirement for every family or individual to be spiritually fervent. As we all know, we are still in the world. If you must therefore, remain here and be relevant on earth, being spiritually fervent is not optional. If you must remain in this wicked world, you must be spiritually fervent. The Word of God says: And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness (1John 5:19). Until you are spiritually connected with God, there is no way you can walk safe in this wicked world. It is a wild world, but when your spirit is on fire, you can walk safe. The good news is that, we have a God that is greater than the greatest and higher than the highest. The Word of God says: Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). To be connected to the great God, you need to be spiritually fervent. From today, safety becomes your portion in Jesus’ name! Below is a testimony that will help you to be more fervent in the spirit:

“When I was ready for marriage, I noticed that some things were working against me. I was not a serious Christian then. However, when I dedicated my life fully to Jesus Christ in 1992, it became obvious that I lacked wisdom and counsel and was emotionally immature. All the same, I got married, and the Lord has been merciful.

However, on joining this church, from the different ministrations I received, my life and marriage became meaningful and received direction. Now my marriage is established, and I am free from all manner of oppressions of the wicked.

My family has been increased remarkably, and I now apply myself to the wisdom of God that has been imparted to me here!” – Opara, C.C.N.

You are next in line for a miracle!
My husband, Bishop David Oyedepo, says: “You cannot successfully carry out a spiritual assignment in the energy of the flesh”. To enjoy the grace and energy to obey the commandments of God, you must first accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. If you would want to receive Him right now, please pray this prayer of faith with me:

Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving me. Now I know I am born again!

Congratulations! You are now born again! All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name. Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org, and conselling@faithoyedepo.org; OR 07026385437 and 08141320204.
