Topic: United we Stand [Sunday May 24, 2015]

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”-Psalm 133:1

One thing I have discovered over the years is that families who are united today, whose children are jointly knitted, were taught and shown unity from the cradle. It’s not like the children were handed over a “unity guideline or code” to memorise, but they understood through visuals and a show of physical practice, how important the family bond is.

As parents, you might not understand that your attitude is far more interpreted and understood, than your words ever will be. Children learn more from what you do than from what you say to them. That is why a young child may decide to do the opposite of an instruction given; he or she may have seen that opposite action being done countless times, without any repercussions.

The family is a team, a work group and a community. You need to train your children to work together to achieve greater results. Each one must learn how to work on behalf of the other, and not say “after all, it is this person’s job and none of my business.” Your sibling’s business is your business, because in the long run, what affects one member of the family, affects the whole family.

Sibling rivalry, jealousy, animosity and strife among children of same parents arise when these children are not brought up to be each other’s keepers. Also, they tend to take this attitude of division outside the home and it then affects their relationships all the way through.Life is more fun and exciting when children learn to work together, share things with each other and watch each other’s back. Remember, it is said that united we stand and divided we fall. Your family will not fail in the name of Jesus Christ!

Remain Blessed!
