Topic: What sayeth thou? [Sunday May 3, 2015]

“Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:” –Numbers 14:28

Have you ever taken time to really study the circumstances behind proverbs 31? Often times, we quote some verses from it and even tell ourselves how we ought to replicate the virtuous woman, but there is something about that chapter of the Bible I want you to also consider.

It would interest you to know that the whole of that chapter is the advice of a loving and wise mother to her son king Lemuel. That brings me to ask you today, what kinds of words do you speak to your children? Do you just go with the flow or set a standard for them to follow through?

I need not remind you how precious they are you, and how their success automatically becomes yours. If you allow that understanding guide your relationship and thoughts towards them, your words to your children daily would be those of edification, and not the opposite.

Words are seeds, seeds that grow through the course of one’s life. I hear of negative words that some parents say to their children. Some of them say that they don’t mean what they say and that it is normal when they are caught in the moment, but whether or not those words are said meaningfully is not what matters. What matters is that you are prophesying into their lives, whether or not you know it, and when it start playing negatively, you have no one else to blame.

So, teach your children the right things and impart on them positively by speaking right words into their lives. Let them know how precious their life is and most of all, how valuable they are to you, with your words. God found you responsible that was why He gave them to you; now prove Him right, by your words.

Remain Blessed!
