Topic: Lead them to Christ [Sunday May 31, 2015]

“That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.” –Deuteronomy 6:2

When my children were growing up, I made sure that we had Bible study daily. I would open up my Bible and them theirs, then we would share ideas of what the particular Scripture we were looking at meant to us. It opened us up to so many things; but of great importance, was that it showed them who they are in Christ.

This instilled the fear of God into their hearts and made it impossible for them to be hypocritical about following the things of God. Creating the fear of God in the heart of your children is as important as helping them become born again.

This act is not to make them terrified of God, but to create a holy reverence for His ever-abiding presence. Your children will not remain children for ever, and they might not always be under your watchful eyes; but your spiritual impact on their lives helps them behave appropriately even in your absence.

As they grow and mingle with people from various backgrounds and trainings, it is the fear of God in them that makes them retain their reverence for God and that in turn preserves their ways. It is important to train your child in all areas, but it is much more important to teach them to fear God. You will not miss it in the name of Jesus Christ!

Remain Blessed!
