Topic: Better as Children [Sunday 8 November, 2015]

“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.”1 John 5:2

Children are known for their innocence and childishness; they have a pure heart and are not defiled. Children should be allowed therefore, to enjoy their years of innocence, because those are days they would cherish when gone. Years when everywhere feels safe and everyone seems like a “protective” figure to them. Children should be left to enjoy these years when they have “no cares in the world,” so that they can live their age, per time.

However, these days, parent seems not to allow their children live their age. They are in such a hurry to see them grow that they fail to realize that they are simply children and should be treated as such. The way they are addressed, dressed and what they are allowed to do, are things way beyond their age. This is why there is an increase in cases of child molestation and abuse.

As godly parents, you ought to show the world how children should be brought up. However, unfortunately, some Christian parents are not different from unbelieving parents. In your bid to make your children fashionable and up to your expected social status, don’t take their innocence away from them. Let them play, dress and look their age. That way, they will grow at their pace, with less dangers to worry about.

More so, a child’s mind is likened to a clean slate; and as a parent, you are responsible for what is imprinted on it. If all you write on your child’s mind represents vanity, carnality, immorality, etc., you should be ready to deal with the reparation in the future. However, if you can just take the time to nurture your children in a godly way, according to their level of understanding, then you will be assured of a peaceful and more fruitful future. I am assured that you will make the right decisions today!

Remain Blessed!
