Topic: True Mother! [Part 2]

Dear Reader,

I thank God for another privilege to bring God’s Word your way today. I began this topic by telling you who a true mother is and what she offers. Today, I shall be showing you some of the Characteristics of a True Mother.

One reason that God brought about marital union between the man and woman is to bring forth godly seeds. If we must have godly seeds, then we must have godly mothers. However, it is important to know that the first person you are to mother is your husband; thereafter, your children. Your children are divided into two categories –the natural and the spiritual. The natural children are first; then, the spiritual ones would follow. Whatever location and locality you are, you must understand that the people who God has committed into your hands in the vision you and your husband are pursuing, are your spiritual children. As such, you have a duty and responsibility placed on you by God to mother them. Never forget that God placed you in that position; that is why they look up to you. You’ll not fail!

Furthermore, studies have shown, over the years that children spend most of their formative years with their mothers. Come to think of it, even in the natural, before you talk of having a child in this world, the mother –natural (biological), will carry that child in the womb for nine months. After that, she gives birth to that child and begins to breast-feed him/ her over a period of time. The act of breast-feeding is another avenue for connection.

There’s no father who can breast-feed, since he doesn’t have breasts. But God gave mothers breasts as point of contact to their children; that’s one of the things that make them unique. I tell mothers all the time, that’s one point of contact you can use to get your children connected to your God. Your children may not be where you are –physically speaking, but there is no barrier whatsoever in the spirit realm.

When you are taking them to God in prayers concerning one area of their lives or another – academics, spiritual, mental, physical or whatever it may be, you can use your breast as a point of contact. As long as your child socked your breast, you can use that as a point of contact to pray for and connect them to God, no matter the distance. After the breast-feeding period, you now begin to teach the child on how to become independent. This is because, all this while, that child has been dependent on you; it is time to teach him/her to be more dependent on God. This period is always very crucial in the life of that child; unfortunately, that’s where most mothers miss it. Therefore, don’t tie them to your apron strings; instead, tie them to God’s apron strings. Remember, you won’t be there all the time but God is always there. Thus, put them in God’s hand because whatever you commit into His hands has a future. Your children will enjoy a great future in the name of Jesus!

CHARACTERISTICS OF A TRUE MOTHER

Love and Affection: The first characteristics of a true mother are love and affection. You cannot be a mother without these two qualities; it is impossible! If you are a mother, love and affection are practical and natural course inside you and neither of them can be hidden. Love cannot be in you, and remain hidden. Wherever love is, it is easily seen and felt. It is visible; you can’t hide, keep or stop it. No matter what, love will always manifest. Furthermore, love is essentially a thing of the heart. It begins on the inside but doesn’t stop there; it always comes out in the open. Love can be seen because it’s practical and not a theology.

I read an inscription many years ago on a wall hanging that someone gave me as a gift. It said, “Love is not love, until it is expressed.” This is so true. If love is present, you’ll express it. The question then is: To what extent do you love your family members? How much affection do you have in your heart and how much of it are you manifesting to them?

From today, the grace to manifest your love to the people God has commissioned you to mother, comes afresh upon you in Jesus’ name! Remember, we said that you’re created to mother your husband first, then your children (spiritual and natural).

Compassion: Another characteristic of motherhood is compassion. Compassion is not the same thing as pity because the former (Compassion) moves you to action. For instance, when your natural child is hurt, how do you feel? Do you feel excited? No! You feel hurt; that’s compassion. It moves you to want to do something to help that child out of that predicament.

Talking about Jesus, the Bible records in several places that: “He was moved with compassion.” When you see the needs of the people you’re to mother, you will be moved if you truly have compassion for them. Thus, you don’t just pity the person; you make an effort to do something that will effect change in the life of such individual.

Jesus was constantly moved with compassion; as such He always acts accordingly. For instance, the Bible makes us to understand that when compassion moves Jesus, the healing unction begins to flow.

Therefore, let compassion be your companion and watch the unction to minister to those you have been sent to mother, flow through you supernaturally.

However, it is important to know that to be filled with love, affection and compassion, you need the grace of God. Do you want that grace to be given to you today? Why not say this prayer of faith and you shall be born again:

“Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the living God. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”

Congratulations! You are now born again! All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name. Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org; OR 07026385437 and 08141320204.
