Making Quality Decisions By Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Making Quality Decisions (Part 1) Dear Reader, Happy New month! We will be having the best of time this month by looking at right choices and happiness in marriage. Marriage is one of God’s most wonderful gifts to mankind. It is a treasure worth working on, cherishing and sustaining. Success in marriage as in any other endeavour in life, answers to hard work. There is always something to do to enjoy a hitch-free marriage. If yours, by any chance, has lost its excitement or I have fallen short of God’s intent, do not despair because God can impart His joy and goodness into it once again. You can just make the right choice of locating and acting on His commandments on marriage. God’s instructions are as valid today as ever. God’s Word is power and He upholds all things, including the success of your home by the power of His Word. When God’s Word is given its right place in your home, it is built on a sure foundation, which must stand. To follow God’s Word is to make the honorable, godly choice. No shame comes from following God’s instructions—only beneficial and lasting rewards. This week, I will focus on: How to make Quality Decisions. Choice/decision making is the act of selection, especially of the best part or alternative. It is also defined as the power and privilege of free selection; careful selection without compulsion and after due consideration. It is also a preference for the best alternative. The act of making a decision indicates that there are alternatives or options. God’s Word says: I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live (Deuteronomy 30:19). Why does God say, “Therefore choose life”? He says so because you have the power to choose/decide the outcome of your life/family at any point in time. God is saying whatever you choose today will not only affect you now, but will affect you in the future as well. Whatever or wherever you are today is a product of the choices you made yesterday. Daily, you and I are confronted with choices that have to be made – to pray or not to pray, what to pray about, what to eat, wear, where to go, what to buy, what to give, etc. Choices make a world of difference between success and failure, joy and sorrow, peace and chaos, life and death. Making correct choices leads you to a correct destination, whereas making wrong choices leads you to a wrong destination. A wise man once said, “Wise people choose today what will make them happy tomorrow, but foolish people choose today only what will make them happy today.” In other words, wise people choose today what will make them happy even tomorrow, but foolish people don’t consider the future. They choose only what will make them happy today. Therefore, be futuristic in your choices. The choices you make either make you or break you. As for you, you will make the right choices that will make you! The devil can do nothing about your choice when it is made; even God respects your choice. God is a God of choice. This can be clearly seen during creation in Genesis chapters one and two, and indeed throughout the scriptures. He chose Jacob over Esau, man over animals, etc. Since man is made in His image, man is a creature of choice also. He is a free moral agent. God does not force man to choose. Choice making is everyman’s responsibility. God is the foundation for success in the home. So, the fundamental choice anyone can ever make is to build a personal relationship with God. When the foundation is faulty, no matter how righteous you may be, your home cannot stand. Marital bliss depends on the place you give to God and His Word in your home. The more of God you have, the more peace, joy happiness and sweetness you enjoy in your home. Have you made the choice to surrender your life to Christ? If your answer is No” use this opportunity today to make the right choice that will lead you to the right destination. This is done by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. Peradventure, you are not born again and you want to accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour, then say this prayer in faith: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom. Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you.
