Memorise: Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Isaiah 43:18

READ: Isaiah 43:18-19

18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Bible In One Year: 1 Kings 8-9; Luke 23:39-56

MESSAGE:

Success is good to be desired, but when achieved, must be forgotten so as to gain more. A boy once wrote a Mock examination and in the entire school, he had the best result in Economics. The Economics teacher was very impressed and commended him highly in the presence of his classmates. The boy then believed that he would easily repeat the same feat in the real examination. When he wrote the real examination, his performance was disappointing.

I have discovered on thing in life which is, whatever you did to attain success, you need to do more of it to retain the success. You must learn to put behind the success of yesterday and work harder to attain greater success today. If you took first position the last time, you have to work harder now so you won’t lose it to someone else who is preparing hard for it. This rule applies to every area of life.

Key Point:

Don’t let yesterday’s success be the case of tomorrow’s failure.

Hymn 13:

1.I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining everyday;
Still praying as I onward bound
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Chorus:
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table-land;
Where love, and joy, and light abound, Lord, plant my feet on higher
ground.

2.My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise, and fears dismay; Though some may dwell where these abound,
My constant aim is higher ground.

3.Beyond the mist I fain would rise,
To rest beneath unclouded skies,
Above earth’s turmoil peace is found
By those who dwell on higher ground.

4.I long to scale the utmost height, Though rough the way, and hard the fight, My song, while climbing, shall resound Lord, lead me on to higher ground.

5.Lord, lead me up the mountain side
I dare not climb without my Guide;
And, heaven gained, I’ll gaze around,
With grateful heart from higher ground.
