Memorise: “If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” – John 15:6

Read: Philippians 2:12-13

12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Bible In One Year: Psalm 68-69, Romans 3

MESSAGE:

Several believers have been made to accept a dangerous belief concerning their faith in Christ. Even some of the ‘big’ men of God preach that once a person is born again, even if he is still committing sin, he is still a born again Christian. This is a horrible lie from the pit of hell. To tell you the undiluted truth, if you become born again, and you go back to sin, if you don’t repent, you will end up in eternal damnation.

Our memory verse today says it clearly that if a person has come to Jesus, but doesn’t abide in Him, that fellow will be cast away and will end up being burned in fire. Abiding in Christ is doing His will. The moment you decide that you want to do your own will, not His, you have stopped abiding in Him. A case in point is the prodigal son in Luke 15. He decided to do His own will, therefore he went far from his father and suffered a great deal, until he came back to his senses and went back home. Even though the Father is always willing accept any sinner who repents, any believer who commits sin is an outcast to Him and will end up in hell if he does not repent.

Key Point:
Guard your solution with all your heart lest you lose it.

Hymn 16:

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose
    Hear thy gracious Savior say;
    Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray.
  2. Principalities and power
    Mustering their unseen array
    Wait for the unguarded hours:
    Watch and pray
  3. Gird the heavenly armor on,
    Wear it ever night and day;
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    Watch and pray.
  4. Hear the victors who o’ercame,
    Still they mark each warrior’s way;
    All with one sweet voice exclaim,
    Watch and pray.
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou loves to obey;
    Hide within thy heart His word:
    Watch and pray.
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may be sent down:
    Watch and pray.
