Worried by the need to make refuse collection in Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital a task that must be won, Staff of the Kogi Sanitation and waste management board have been charged to be more diligent in their duties and to work towards ensuring that the state government achieve its overall objectives.

The State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, gave the charge while addressing some field staff of the Sanitation and Waste Management Board in his office.

Awoniyi described the state of most dump sites around the state capital as worrisome, blamed some of the staff responsible for evacuating the designated dump sites for not doing their job with the seriousness its deserves, urged them to intensify efforts more efforts as the cleanliness of the state capital is now becoming a source of concern.

Awoniyi promised to henceforth reward those who perform their work efficiently, called for more dedication to duty from the personnel in evacuating waste bins and the cleaning of the roads.

The Deputy Governor disclosed that government will not hesitate to deal with any staff found wanting in the discharge of their duty, warned against attitudes that is inimical to the attainment of government’s objectives.

While noting that the rules of the civil service frowns at closing before the stipulated time of schedule, and absenteeism from duty, warned the staff to henceforth key into government’s plans so as not to be found wanting.

Awoniyi described the Capt Idris Wada’s administration as one that is committed to building a new state capital with a friendly environment, promised to supply all the necessary working tools that would enable those saddle with cleaning the state capital discharge and perform their functions effectively.

Some of the Sanitation officers who spoke at the meeting commended the state government’s dream of having a clean and green environment that is habitable for living, assured of their readiness to key into government’s planned objectives.
