Without the Holy Spirit, life will be useless; life becomes burdensome without His help. Without the help of the Holy Spirit, you are helpless. The Holy Spirit is a person.
John 14:16,26 -And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
To live in comfort on earth, you need the supernatural help of the Holy Spirit. Without Him, you cannot succeed here on earth. He is the gateway to the manifestation of the supernatural in the life of a believer.
When you take away the supernatural, Christianity will be mere religion and without the Holy Spirit, there will be no supernatural. Religion can give you high sounding principles without proofs. Every assignment done without the help of the Holy Spirit will end in futility.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit is not reserved for a few; it is for as many as believe. Every child of God has access to the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Ecc.9:8 -Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.
The white in the above scripture represents holiness while the oil represents anointing. The gifts of the Holy Spirt are the divine empowerment of special abilities and manifestations given to the church by the Holy Ghost that alters the course of nature and changes situations in favour of mankind.
Every time you operate in the gifts of the Spirt, you can change things and turn them the way you want them and you will not be controlled by natural events. That is why as a believer, you must covet the gifts because things must not happen the way they happened to others. With the supernatural power of the Holy Ghost, natural things are not meant to move you because you have the power to alter them in your favour.
You need the gifts of the Holy Spirit now more than ever before because wickedness has increased in the world. Satan has no respect for your grammar and phonetics; you have to operate in the power and gifts of the Holy Ghost.
1 Cor.12:7-11 -But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
All these nine gifts are available to all and Paul operated all of them. To explain how these gifts work, I will give you a little insight about the gift of Word of Knowledge. When you have the gift of Word of Knowledge, the Holy Spirit provides you information, insight and understanding of things in the past, present and in the future. When you operate in the word of knowledge, you will see things ahead and it is available for you to covet. God will give you these gifts if you thirst and ask with all your heart.
1 Cor.12:31 -But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
Luke 11:13 -If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
When God sees your heart that you really desire these gifts of the Holy Spirit, He will give it to you.
