Open Heavens for Teens

Topic: Truly Teachable? [Teens Open Heavens 27, July 2018]

Memorise: Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: – Proverbs 6:6

Read: Proverbs 6:6-8 (KJV)

Bible In One Year: Psalm 50-52, Acts 27:1-25

MESSAGE:

A wise person is identified by what he fears and what hears. If you fail to fear God as a teenager because of men, you are not wise. A wise person is also identified by his/her ability to learn. The ability to learn a lesson from little things and the big things will go a long way in making you wise. Do you pay attention to your parents at home when they teach you valuable life lessons? Do you pay attention to your teachers in class? You must always pay close attention to learn whenever you are being taught anything.

As a teenager, are you humble enough to learn from someone younger than you? If you are struggling with a particular subject in school, and your junior is good at it and is willing to teach you, you should be humble enough to learn from him/her. Being teachable and humble go together, and these are virtues that God likes to see in His children. How teachable are you?

Key Point: How truly teachable you are is measured by how much you can learn, not just from your superiors, but also from your subordinates. Learn from every experience.

Hymn 2:

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there¡¯s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4.But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
