Memorise: “Therefore they sought again to take Him: but He escaped out of their hand.” – John 10:39 Read: John 10:30-40 (KJV) Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 20-22, 2 Timothy 1 MESSAGE: Elijah descended from Mount Carmel where he had called down fire and rain, and by the power of God, went ahead of the King’s horse driven chariot. Then he heard that Queen Jezebel was out to kill him and he ran. He ran until his feet could carry him no more. Tired and exhausted from his flight, he told God to take his life. While sleeping under a Juniper tree, he slept off from his exhaustion. An angel came to wake him up with a command to eat and drink. He ate, drank and slept again. Later the angel came back, woke him up and set food yet before him again. He took the meal and was revived. His hope arose and he embarked on a journey of 40 days and nights until he encountered the Almighty God on Mount Horeb (1 Kings 19:4-8) This story is interesting because we can learn several things from it. The higher you go in the faith, the bigger your temptations and trials. Another thing to learn here is that when in the midst of intense opposition as a child of God, it is sometimes a wise thing to retreat temporarily in order to re-attack the kingdom of Satan. Ask for God’s wisdom at all times. It is essential.
