Open Heavens for Teens

Topic: Fear Of Man [Teens Open Heavens 26, April 2018]

Memorise: The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. Proverbs 29:25

Read: Luke 12:4-7 (KJV)

4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.

5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.

6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.

Bible In One Year: 2 Samuel 15-16, Luke 20:27-47

MESSAGE:

No man is big enough to be feared. Respect and reverence for others, especially people of authority is important, but fear should be discouraged. The fear of man will make you offend God when you have to choose between obeying God and that man. The only reason man will try to instill fear into you is so as to control you; and when a man is controlling you, it means God has no influence over you.

If your friends are luring you into sin, be bold to tell them NO. If an elder is asking you to lie, be bold to tell them NO. If someone, even an older person is trying to touch you in private areas of your body, be bold, tell the person NO, and report them to your parents. Do not fear any human being. The fear of man will only lead you into a terrible trap and when you get hurt, the man might not even be capable of helping you. The only authentic person to fear is GOD.

Key Point: The fear of God is the highest form of wisdom any human being can possess!

Hymn 11
1. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
Ye soldiers of the Cross!
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed.

2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep he suffers,
Away with shame and fear.
Where’re ye meet with evil,
Within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles,
And put the foe to rout.

3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus !
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armour,
Each piece put on with prayer;
When duty calls or danger,
Be never wanting there.

4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor’s song.
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory
Shall reign eternally.
