Teens’ Open Heavens 30 November 2017 by Pastor Adeboye - Mercy Or Judgment?

Topic: Mercy Or Judgment? [Thursday 30, November 2017]

Memorise: “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” – Psalms 32:1

Read: John 8:10-11

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Bible In One Year: 1 Corinthians 1-4. Hymn: Sing Hymn 10: When The Trumpet Of The Lord Shall Sound

MESSAGE:

The story of the woman caught in the act of adultery is an example of the mercy of God and it was the direct opposite of the judgment of the old era which did not give any solution to the spiritual problem of the people. Psalms 130:3-4 says:

“If thou, Lord, shoulders mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.”

This passage points to the fact that mercy is the preferred solution to judgment. The number one thing you must do to obtain mercy is to repent. Another factor that can earn you mercy in the place of judgment is your love for God. This love you have for God will prevent you from continuing in sin against Him (John 14:15). Beloved, if indeed, you prefer mercy to judgment, you will choose to love God. To love God requires keeping His commandments. Finally, if you want mercy in the place of judgment, you need to humble yourself before God, acknowledging the fact that you are nothing without Him. Why not cry out to God for His mercies today?

Prayer Point: Father, please show me mercy in the place of judgment. Help me to love You with all my heart.

Sing Hymn 10: When The Trumpet Of The Lord Shall Sound

1. When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

Chorus:
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

2. On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of His resurrection share;
When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.
Chorus:

3. Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun,
Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care;
Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.
Chorus.
