Bible Reading: Galatians 5:22-23

  1. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, Joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
  2. Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Bible Reading In One Year: Isaiah 45-47; Colossians 3:1-25

MESSAGE:

Temperance is an indispensable quality every child of God must possess. It is a fruit of the Spirit. It means to subject your body under the leading of the Holy Spirit.

After our wedding over fifty years ago, my wife and I agreed that the both of us must not be angry at the same time. One day, while travelling from Ilesa to Lagos, something made her angry. She started talking and I also became angry. But I was trapped in the car because I was the one driving. To avoid an outburst which would break our agreement, I stopped the car, parked on the road and started walking back to Ilesa leaving her and our baby. Having walked some miles, I stopped by a village, bought some fruits, ate some and took some back to her as peace offering. Little did I know that she was already afraid when I didn’t return on time, but when she saw me, her fears died down and so did the matter.

If you still have a problem dealing with anger, you need to work on yourself. You can control that temper. Psalms 119:165 says:

“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”

The bible also says that anger rests in the bosom of fools (Ecclesiastes 7:9). Don’t be a fool!

Prayer Point:

Father, please give me the grace to subject my body to the leading of the Holy Spirit as from today.

Hymn: Take My Life , And Let It Be

  1. Take my life and let it be
    Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
    Take my moments and my days,
    Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
  2. Take my hands and let them move
    At the impulse of Thy love;
    Take my feet and let them be
    Swift and beautiful for Thee.
  3. Take my voice and let me sing
    Always, only for my King;
    Take my lips and let them be
    Filled with messages from Thee.
  4. Take my silver and my gold
    Not a mite would I withhold;
    Take my intellect and use
    Every power as Thou shalt choose.
  5. Take my will and make it
    Thine It shall be no longer mine;
    Take my heart, it is Thine own
    It shall be Thy royal throne.
  6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
    At Thy feet its treasure store.
    Take myself and I will be
    Ever, only, all for Thee.
