Topic: Christ Had By Himself Purged Our Sins [TREM Devotional 11 February 2019]

“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;” Hebrews 1:3 KJV

According to Hebrews 1:1: “God who at sundry times and in diverse manners spake…”.What I want you to see there is that He spoke. And by the Word, He spoke are all things upheld. All things in the universe are upheld by the Word of His power. In other words, the Word of God carries power. You see, Jesus did all things perfectly. But now He is upholding all things by the Word of His power. That means if the Word is taken out of this world, everything will dematerialize. Everything will melt off. You are existing because of the Word that was spoken. You are moving about because of the Word.

The Word, in itself, has the capacity to produce whatever it says. He had by Himself purged all our sins. The word ‘purged’ is past tense. In other words, it has been done. Therefore, it is an insult to God to call yourself a sinner. You are not a sinner. You are a son of God. Even when you fell into sin, it still does not make you a sinner. If I go to the mechanic’s workshop to service my car and I am wearing a white pant and I sit down, my trousers will certainly be dirty. Does that make me a mechanic? No! I am not a mechanic. I am still a preacher. That is how it is!

This world is filled with filth. And at times we come in contact with dirt called sin, but that doesn’t change your identity. Christ has by Himself purged our sins. ‘Purged’ means completely obliterated, wiped out and eradicated. Your sins have been removed. So never be sin conscious! Be righteousness conscious! Never be afraid to approach God. What makes you right is Jesus.
