“And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.” – Genesis 24:63. KJV

According to our Bible text today, “Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming”. You see, meditation is an old spiritual act that has been on for years; since the time of Genesis. The Bible implies that Isaac contacted divine wisdom and when he lifted up his eyes, the camels were coming. In other words, when he had meditated, his desires began to race towards him. Remember, that was when Rebecca came to him. When you begin to meditate on the Word, your desires will begin to race towards you. Ideas will begin to come to you. What you should do will begin to come to you. That was what happened to Isaac.

Isaac meditated in Genesis chapter 24 and by the time we saw him in Genesis chapter 26, he was already doing great exploits. That was when he sowed in the same land of famine and God greatly prospered him. It was through meditation that the idea of sowing in the famine came to him. While others were running away from sowing, he said ‘I will sow. ’And he became greater than his contemporaries. How did he know that he should sow in the same land? He was contacting wisdom that others did not have.

God has no favourites but respects principles. There were other people in the same land who did not sow. But Isaac chose to sow in the land because he contacted divine wisdom through meditation. Not only was Isaac blessed, he received a hundred-fold harvest in that year. The scriptures said he waxed great, he grew and became very great. That is what divine meditation can give to you. You will stand out among equals. You will be greater than your contemporaries because you are spending time to acquire divine wisdom.
