Topic: Look Beyond Others Mistake And Mentor Them [TREM 18th July 2018 Daily Devotional]

“Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:11

Take Mark and bring him with you. John Mark, the same stone that was rejected. Barnabas took the stone and refined it and it became profitable. But I still honour Paul. He was humble enough to accept that he had missed it. Some of us are so arrogant to admit that we missed it. You give an impression that you don’t pass through anything. My friend, come down from your high horse. Let people know you cry when need be. Let them identify with you. “For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15).

Let people know that you pass through things but the only difference is that you have learnt to latch unto grace. Let them know that you are troubled on every side, yet not distressed. You are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken. (2 Corinthians 4:8-9). Let them know that challenges do come but God is able to sustain you.

Paul said bring John Mark with you, he is a profitable instrument. Why is this so? It is so because somebody paid the price. I ask myself, how many profitable instruments have we abandoned on the pathway because of mistakes in their attempts to stand. I wonder how many of us would have been mature if our parents had killed us or in an attempt to walk or crawl, you had fallen and refused to walk again.

We all make mistakes. The mistake somebody made to become an achiever is a good mistake. It is part of the growth process. John Mark made a mistake, Barnabas picked him up and mentored him, and he became a profitable instrument to Paul and the ministry. In spite of your mistakes, I declare you a profitable instrument in Jesus name.
