TOPIC: From The Back Side To The Front Line (TREM Devotional 8 May 2025)
“…And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.” (1 Samuel 16:11 KJV)
MESSAGE:
God said to me, “Son, listen to me, this your calling, not many noble, not many mighty.” In other words, the more disqualified you think you are, the more you are qualified. When Moses thought that he was qualified as a very learned man in Egypt, he became a used to be. He was the heir apparent in Egypt, but he found himself in the desert, and there he was had no expectations. He just assumed he will remain there in the desert as a nobody for the rest of His life. But that is when God appeared unto him and said, it is you Moses, it is you I have come for, you are the one I want.

Gideon in Judges 6 was under a tree threshing wheat at the bottom of the wine press, hiding from the Midianites, and the angel appeared unto him and said Gideon, you are a mighty man of valor, and I have a divine assignment for you to accomplish, and you are the man for it. Gideon tried to argue, my tribe is the least in this entire town, and I am even the least in my family, so why me? The angel said all these “disqualifications”, are the reasons why you are the most qualified for the assignment.
David was taking care of sheep in the desert, when the Lord sent Prophet Samuel to him. He wasn’t even amongst the sons that his father Jesse brought to meet Samuel when he first arrived at Jesse’s home. It was after all the sons had come out to meet Samuel, that he inquired from Jesse, if these were all his children, and then he remembered David. David was the youngest, smallest of all the sons, and yet the Lord said you are the one that I want (1 Samuel 16).
Child of God, you are the beloved of the Lord, and God has a purpose for your life. You are His choice, irrespective of the disadvantages you think you have, or the factors you feel disqualify you, it is still you that God wants. His mighty hand is upon your life and you will fulfill the great plans He has for you.
