“Then Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord: ‘Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two Measures of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.” 2King 7:1 (NKJV)

From verse 24 of the book of 2 Kings chapter 6, we read about how the city of Samaria was plagued by famine. The famine was so severe that the people were eating dove’s droppings. It didn’t stop there, two women decided to kill their sons and have them for lunch. These incidents provided us with an accurate description of how intense the famine was. The King found out what happened with the women and sent for Prophet Elisha because he needed an answer and a solution to their calamity.

Our text above is Prophet Elisha’s response to the King. He gave the King a Word from the Lord; saying that the situation was going to change overnight. Humanly speaking, however, there was absolutely no way that what Prophet Elisha said could happen. The human mind could not even fathom that type of miracle, let alone expect its manifestation. Just that day, people were eating their children, so how could everything turn around overnight? That was why the king’s chief protocol officer doubted. No economic report could produce that type of turn around. But the beauty of it was that God’s Word did come to pass.

Child of God, it doesn’t have to make sense to the human mind. The earlier you realize that God does not function based on human postulations, the easier it will be for you to believe and receive. In your walk with God, always expect the unexpected! Always expect the supernatural. Always live in expectation of the unusual. With God all things are possible. His ways are not our ways, neither are His thoughts our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). Beloved, even in the remaining days of this year, God is still able to pull out a pleasant surprise for you. Get ready! Be expectant! Your expectation will not be cut short In Jesus’ name.
