Memorise: “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer”. 1 Peter 4:7

Bible Reading: Joshua 10:12-14

12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

Bible Reading In One Year: Job 10-12; Acts 8:1-25

MESSAGE:

One of the greatest blessings God has given to maintain is the gift of prayer. Prayer can charge a hopeless situation into one filled with hope. In 1 Chronicles 4:10, Jabez who had been named sorrow cried unto God and asked God to change his situation. When he called out to God, his hope was restored and his life changed. Another thing prayer does is that it can terminate a problem and birth a solution at the same time. In Joshua 10:12-14, while Joshua was fighting the Amorites, their victory was already giving away to defeat until Joshua commanded the sun to stand still till they were victorious. Similarly, after a period of drought for over three years, Elijah prayed and rain came. There was an instant end to the drought.

Have things been so bad for you that you have lost hope? Prayer can turn your situation around and bring you fresh, bright hope. Were you having good grades before but now have bad grades instead? Prayer can bring back that good thing you had or even create a better one for you. There is absolutely nothing prayer cannot do.

Key Point:

Make prayer your lifestyle and there will be nothing you cannot achieve.

Hymn 14

1.Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Chorus:
Saviour, Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling;
Do not pass me by.

2.Let me, at Thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition,
Help my unbelief.

3.Trusting only in Thy merit
Would I seek Thy face
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace.

4.Thou, the spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me.
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in heaven but Thee
