Topic: Alive To Righteousness [27/5/2016]
Text: Romans 8:9-11
Our bodies are the instruments we use in carrying out all actions, whether good or evil. Satan is fighting to gain mastery of our bodies, so also is God wanting to gain possession of our bodies. And to whom we yield our bodies to, his servants are we (Romans 6:16). That is why we are encouraged to yield our bodies as instruments of righteousness to God (Romans 6:13).
This is one of the major reasons we have the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:11 says “but if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” To quicken means to make alive. The Holy Spirit makes alive our bodies unto righteousness. It makes it susceptible to righteous deeds.
He is the Spirit of righteousness, and when we spend time with Him in loving fellowship or prayer, He makes ability (power) available to our bodies to produce righteousness (James 5:16). No wonder Philippians 2:13 says “for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” This is one of the reasons we must seek constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit, to give Him the avenue to quicken our mortal bodies unto righteousness.

Dear loving Father, thank You for Your Spirit You have given to me. I trust in Your Spirit to work in me, making my body alive unto righteousness, in Jesus name. Amen.
