But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Hebrews 13:16

Doing good to people is something that we must all imbibe. In 1 Samuel 25, David, before he became king, was furious with Nabal, who refused to be generous enough to give David some portion of his meat, even though David has been good enough to protect Nabal’s sheep when Nabal’s servants took them out for grazing. If not for the wisdom of Abigirl, Nabal’s wife, who went to personally meet David, who was on his way to kill Nabal, with some food supplies. Nabal, who died ten days after, would have been killed by David that day. The wise and generous Abigirl became the wife of David after her husband’s death.

It pays to be good. It pays to be generous to others, especially those who cannot reciprocate such gesture. Hebrews 13:2 says “be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” This scripture is in reference to Genesis 18, where Abraham showed how generous he is to God unknownly. Abraham saw three strangers. He ran to meet them, brought them to a shade. Entertained then, and at the end of their stay, they gave Abraham the best news of his life – the looming birth of Isaac, his promised son.

Apostle Paul said in Galatians 6:10 – “as we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Being good to others pleases God. Don’t miss any opportunity that comes your way to do good. In being good and generous, we are standing in the stead of God to supply the needs of people. This is one of the reasons it is pleasing to God. From the accounts of Abigirl and Abraham, we understand that when we do good, we are creating opportunities for God’s blessings and promises to manifest in our lives. Do good!

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, I ask that You work in me to be well pleasing to You by helping me to do good and be generous at every opportunity I have. Let me be Your hand of providence to all that are in need in my sphere of influence, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
