Topic: Freely Give [Saturday, 24th June 2017]

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Matthew 10:8

It is an established fact that God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthian 9:7). But we’ve limited this to relate only to monetary and material giving. It however goes way more than that. It also affects spiritual giving. Now we’ve all been bestowed with spiritual gifts for the advancement of the kingdom of God on earth (1 Corinthians 12:4-6; Matthew 25:15). The mistake some of us make is to hoard the gifts we’ve received for one reason or the other. For some, it is the fear that they may do the wrong thing. If you walk in line with the will of God, and follow His instructions in applying the gifts He has given you, there is no way you will go wrong. Trust God and start working.

For some others, they don’t believe that the gift they are given is useful or can achieve anything. This is indirectly calling God unwise for giving you an unuseful gift. Truth is, God is all-knowing and meticulous, and whatever He does is for a purpose. So also is the gift He’s given you. It may seems small but it is very important and honourable (1 Corinthians 12:24). Accept the gifts, and start working for God.

For yet some others, it is the uncertainty of not knowing where the gift will take them. Jeremiah 29:11 says “for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” God will not place in you something that will lead to your destruction. He has a good and perfect plan for you. A plan you wouldn’t know until you start walking in His will. So start manifesting the gifts He’s placed in you by giving daily to those in need of it, and watch where God takes you to. Don’t be like the servant in Matthew 25:24-30, whose one talent was taken from him because he refused to give it.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank You for Your amazing gifts You’ve placed in me. Help me daily to give to others for the advancement of Your kingdom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
