Topic: My Spirit Upon All Flesh 1 [Sunday, 6th Nov. 2016.]

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. Joel 2:16

God is so gracious that He doesn’t want to withhold His Spirit from any man. Through Prophet Joel, He proclaimed His desire to pour out His Spirit upon all flesh. The will of God is for every single person in the world will be filled with His Spirit. Like we have known, the life of God is in His Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:6 says “the Spirit gives life.” When we receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour, the Holy Spirit inputs the life of God into us. But this is just a foretaste of what God really wants for us.

As babes, we might still rely on people, especially our pastors to talk to God for us. When we have issues, we still “run” to our pastors to help us pray. This is not a bad thing to do, but it is not the best God has planned for us. That is a replica of the old covenant, when the priest helped the congregation to offer their worship and offerings to God. But with the out pouring of God’s Spirit, the mode of worship changed, because “through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father” (Ephesians 2:18).

God doesn’t want us to go through intermediaries anymore. We now have access directly to Him by His Spirit. The Holy Spirit in you is your access to God. This is why the church must pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon all her members. Everyone of us needs Him. God wants to establish a direct line of communication with all flesh. This was what Jesus enjoyed when He was on earth. No wonder He said in John 14:16 – “I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.” Jesus needed Him to have a direct connection to God the Father, we need Him too.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, I pray for the outpouring of your Spirit upon all flesh. That the church may desire and be filled with the Holy Spirit, Who is our access to You, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
