When thou passeth through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. Isaiah 43:2

As long as we live in this world, we will encounter various unpleasant and difficult circumstances. Some would seem too small to pray about, while others will seem too enormous that it would be like our prayer is doing nothing. Whatever the kind of circumstance you find yourself, do not fret or give up on God for He has made a promise in Isaiah 43:2, that “when thou passeth through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”

When you pass through the waters, He promised to be with you. When the Isrealites were to cross the Red Sea in Exodus 14:16-29, He was with them to make sure the Egyptians never caught up with them, putting up a pillar of fire between the Egyptians and the Israelites. He also divided the Red Sea, so they could walk through it on dry ground. He said also that “when you go through the rivers, He promises that they will not overflow you.” Psalms 91:11 says, “for he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways.” Not even a river-like situation can overwhelm you, because God is there to preserve you.

When you walk through the fire, He promises that you will not be burned, and the flame shall not kindle against you. The experience of the three Hebrew boys in Daniel 3:19-27 is apt in this regard. For refusal to bow to the King Nebuchadnezzar’s graven image, they were thrown into a fiery furnace, but they were not burnt. Verse 27 records that “…whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was a hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.” The fire had no power to cause them harm. So also the unpleasant circumstances have no power to harm you. These promises are for those who are in Christ, and whose trust is in the Lord. He will preserve you always. Trust in Him.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Father, I thank You for Your promise to preserve me in any challenging circumstances. I choose to trust in Your unfailing Word always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
