Topic: Unity of the Spirit [Thursday, 12th Jan. 2017]

There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling. Ephesians 4:4

Looking closely at the early church, in the book of Acts of the Apostles, there was one thing that was a constant factor, which also aided their accelerated growth and expansion: the unity of purpose and heart. From the beginning of their being alone without Jesus, scriptures tell us that “…they were all in one accord in one place” (Acts 2:1). Their unity was at the very first, evident.

With the coming of the Holy Spirit, the bond existing between them tightened; that even though they were in different houses, that did not disrupt the bond existing between them. Acts 2:46 comfirms this when it says, “and they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.” And because of this, they were able to add to their number. One of the major indicators to sustainable growth in any organization, religious or secular, is the existence of unified hearts and minds.

Every leader must aim at this. No matter your level in leadership, you must make sure that your team members are pulling in the same direction with you. Galvanise your team together, as you aim at meeting your goal(s). There must be the unity of spirit – mind – bonded by peace (Ephesians 4:3). This cannot be overstated. And it can never be ignored. Leaders and even team members will only ignore the singleness of purpose and mind to their own peril. Remember the popular saying: united, we will stand, but divided, we will fall.

Keep winning daily.

Wise Action:

Take conscious steps as leaders and team members in any organization to bond together, so that the goals of the organization can be attained.
