Topic: You Can Stand Out [Open Heavens for Teens 9 May 2019]
Memorise: “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” – James 1:14
Read: Romans 8:35-39
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Bible In One Year: 1 Kings 19-20, John 2
MESSAGE:
The world we are in is very immoral. However, this does not give any child of God the liberty to live below the standard of Christ. In His letter to the church in Sardis, after stating their terrible state, God said that there were a few of them who were undefiled and would walk with Him in white on the last day.
“Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.” – Revelation 3:4.
As horrible as Sardis was, there were a few people who held on to their faith in Christ. One revelation you need to hold on to from this is that your faith in Christ can triumph even in the most sinful environments. No matter the temptations or levels of corruption around you, no matter the pressure you are faced with, if you hold on to your faith in Christ, you will be a victor. Your watch word should be “others can, but I cannot”. You can be different. You can stand out for God. Be determined, and you will be undefiled.
Key Point: Don’t give up on your faith, God is counting on you as a worthy example to others. Stay in Christ!

Hymn 11:
- Stand up! Stand up for Jesus,
Ye soldiers of the Cross!
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed. - Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep he suffers,
Away with shame and fear.
Where’re yeah meet with evil,
Within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles,
And put the foe to rout. - Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armour,
And watching unto prayer;
Where duty calls, or danger,
Be never wanting there. - Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor’s song.
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory
Shall reign eternally.
