LESSON INTRODUCTION: This question is required in our daily lives, who are we representing, is Christ formed in us, are attributes of believers manifesting in our daily conduct? Are we Christians in church, demons in the world? Your relationship to others can it be spoken well of or deepened in an ungodly way? May Almighty God give all leaders and members in our various centres grace for Christ to be formed in them.
LESSON AIM: To teach members the price paid by Christ for their new name, new life and new image.
TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should learn that:
- They are created in the image of God
- Everyone will be known by his or her doing.
TEXT REVIEW: Psalm 100:3
- As God’s own image, always acknowledge His provision for you and His goodness towards you.
- God made us, and we are His.
- We are His people. His own heritage, never squander that ordained privilege.
LESSON OUTLINE ONE: CREATED IN THE IMAGE OF GOD.
The word image means the representation of a real picture, the characteristics of a person, style, and manner of dressing perceived by others. During the time of Jesus, unbelievers couldn’t differentiate Christ from His disciples, and the only way to arrest Him before being crucified was by the method Judas Iscariot gave them. Luke 22:47-48. As Christians and believers, we are created;
a. To rule and dominate. Genesis 1:26
b. To display His glory in our ministry, business, and careers on a daily basis through His excellent Spirit in us. Daniel 6:3
c. To roll out new concepts and unbelievable miracles. Genesis 30:31-43
d. To recreate this fallen world and bring out a new heaven and new earth.
e. To silence the enemy’s activities against localities. Zechariah 4:7.
f. To unite the body of Christ with a new heart. Psalm 86:11, 1 Corinthians 12:12,27
LESSON OUTLINE TWO: BE KNOWN BY YOUR DOING
You can identify believers by their actions and observable behaviours, which should reflect the positive qualities of their faith, like love, kindness, compassion and integrity. The true character of individuals is evident in their actions. Other positive qualities of believers who represent God in a godly way are;
- Sharing their faith with the unsaved.
- Practising forgiveness towards those who wrong them.
- Demonstrating integrity even in tempting situations.
- Being generous to the needy and the afflicted.
- Being good stewards of all that God has given you.
SUMMARY: God made us, and we are His, we are His people, His own image. Never squander that ordained privilege.
CONCLUSION: A believer is known by what characterizes his or her life (Matthew 12:33), true believers in Christ are recognized not by what they say they believe but by what actively marks their lives on daily basis
WEEKLY ACTIVITY: Why are believers not walking in accordance with God’s original plan?
