Topic Avoid Contaminants [Open Heavens for Teens 15 March 2019]

Memorise: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” – Proverbs 4:23

Read: Philippians 4:8

8.Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Bible In One Year: Deuteronomy 26-27, Mark 15:1-26

MESSAGE:

A contaminant is a polluting or poisonous substance that makes something impure. The death of Jesus Christ gave you a totally clean life to the extent that God dwells in you. This is a very unfortunate fact for the devil, so he does everything possible to contaminate you and make you unfit for God’s presence and use.

The devil knows that once he is able to influence a person’s mind, that person becomes his own. The battle for your mind is very active, and for you to win it, you have to consciously keep your mind pure. In the world we live in today, contaminants are everywhere you turn to; there are impure words and pictures on T.V, books and songs. Impure friends also frequently try to influence you negatively, but if you are conscious about what you allow into your mind, you will be untouchable to the devil.

You have to always remember that little by little, with every impure thing you listen to or watch, the devil gains control of your mind. If you are not careful, if you do not consciously and wisely combat the devil by constantly feeding your mind with the word of God and frequently saying “No” to contaminants, you will gradually become polluted.

Action Point:

Read the word of God for at least 30 minutes every day. While going through your day, cultivate a habit of meditating on the passage that you read.

Hymn 16:

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose
    Hear thy gracious Savior say;
    Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray.
  2. Principalities and power
    Mustering their unseen array
    Wait for the unguarded hours:
    Watch and pray
  3. Gird the heavenly armor on,
    Wear it ever night and day;
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    Watch and pray.
  4. Hear the victors who o’ercame,
    Still they mark each warrior’s way;
    All with one sweet voice exclaim,
    Watch and pray.
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou loves to obey;
    Hide within thy heart His word:
    Watch and pray.
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may be sent down:
    Watch and pray.
