Memorise: My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: Proverbs 3:11

Bible Reading: Proverbs 3:11-12

  1. My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
  2. For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Bible Reading In One Year: Ecclesiastes 10-12; 2 Corinthians 1:16-33

MESSAGE:

As a father corrects his child, so does God correct His Children. It is best to take to Gods corrections and make amends otherwise, one will be left for destruction. There are countless examples of people that refused to yield to Gods corrections in the Bible and their end was bad. For instance, God spoke through Samuel to Eli about his two unruly sons Hophni and Phinehas. God even told Eli what would be the repercussion of his children’s behaviour. But Eli didn’t caution his children. What became their end?, They died like chickens and the news of their death led to the death of Eli himself.

If you find it difficult to take orders and corrections from the constituted authorities in your school, elders and parents, then you will find it difficult to humble yourself to receive God’s chastening. Not accepting corrections also means that you are proud and God hates the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Key Point:

Be humble enough to take to corrections when you are corrected.

Hymn: Take My Life, And Let It Be

  1. Take my life and let it be
    Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
    Take my moments and my days,
    Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
  2. Take my hands and let them move
    At the impulse of Thy love;
    Take my feet and let them be
    Swift and beautiful for Thee.
  3. Take my voice and let me sing
    Always, only for my King;
    Take my lips and let them be
    Filled with messages from Thee.
  4. Take my silver and my gold
    Not a mite would I withhold;
    Take my intellect and use
    Every power as Thou shalt choose.
  5. Take my will and make it
    Thine It shall be no longer mine;
    Take my heart, it is Thine own
    It shall be Thy royal throne.
  6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
    At Thy feet its treasure store.
    Take myself and I will be
    Ever, only, all for Thee.
