Topic Confirm That Word [Open Heavens for Teens 27 March 2019]

Memorise: “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. – Acts 17:11

Read: 2 Corinthians 11:13-15

13.For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

14.And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

15.Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Bible In One Year: Joshua 19-20, Luke 5:17-39

MESSAGE:

More often than not, many teenagers feel that it is easy to be spoon-fed since they are not adults yet. So they wait for everything to be done for them. in school, they take everything their teachers say without reading further. In church or even on television and social media, they take whatever anybody says is in the Bible without reading the Bible themselves to confirm if it is true or not.

You have to understand that your salvation is very personal, hence you have to know God for yourself. You have to become conversant with the Word of God so well that it becomes a habit to go back to it and confirm or further study anything that your Pastor or Sunday school teachers says. It is in doing this that you personalize that word and make it work for you. From Today, whenever a preacher says “The Bible says…”go back to the quoted verses and read it for yourself, then ask the Holy Spirit for a deeper understanding of that verse. More importantly, when someone gives you a spiritual order or directive, don’t just do it, go to the Bible and confirm if it is correct.

Reflection: When last did you do a personal Bible study?

Hymn 14:

1. O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found,
Wherever human hearts and
Human woes abound.
Let every Christian tongue
Proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!

Chorus:
The Comforter has come!
The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n,
The Father’s Promise giv’n,
O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found:
The Comforter has come!

2. The long, long night is past;
The morning breaks at last;
And hushed the dreadful wail
And fury of the blast,
As o’er the golden hills
The day advances fast!
The Comforter has come!

3. Lo, the great Kings of Kings,
With healing in His wings,
To every captive soul a full
Deliv’rance brings;
And thro’ the vacant cells
The song of triumph rings;
The Comforter has come!

4. O boundless love divine!
How shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell
The matchless grace divine-
That I, a child of hell,
Should in His image shine?
The Comforter has come!
