TOPIC: The Value Of Honesty

Bible Text: “That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:12

Honesty is a virtue with great value. According to today’s text, honesty attracts divine blessings. He who practices honesty lacks nothing.

Honesty is more than not lying, deceiving, stealing, or cheating. It entails showing respect towards others and having integrity and self-awareness. Honesty is the foundation for trust and it is key in social relationships; it gives us hope, confidence, compassion and improves decision-making.

Honesty is not just about telling the truth. It’s about being real with yourself and others about who you are, what you want, and what you need to live your most authentic life. It promotes openness, empowers us, and enables us to develop consistency in how we present the facts. Honesty sharpens our perception and allows us to observe everything around us with clarity.

Being honest is always the way to go. It engenders confidence and faith. It empowers our willpower and represents us in the best way for others to see and witness our example. Honesty improves our vitality. The result of an experiment on honesty conducted by two professors of the University of Notre Dame showed that telling the truth is good for human health. It can improve mental and physical health while dishonesty can increase blood pressure and heart rate and lead to other adverse health consequences.

Respectable, admired behavior is always carried out with honesty. Telling the truth and backing it up with actions show respect for what’s right and esteem for ethical and moral integrity. Honesty is one of the key components of character and one of the most admired traits of any successful, responsible person.

Honesty cuts through red tape, distraction, frustration, and indecision. It gets you where you want to go faster because you live how you really feel. Honest intentions in speech and actions gain the attention and respect of others. Honest, yet compassionate communication promotes openness and trust. This is fundamental for functioning in social and intimate relationships. Self-honesty or being truthful with ourselves is essential in building confidence, integrity, and self-awareness. These are protective factors against substance use and other risky behavior.

Beloved of God, honesty is essential for social progress and development around the world. It lays the foundation for progress, while dishonesty contributes to greater problems. You can start today, first, by being as honest as you can with yourself. Be honest about your thoughts, words, actions, and wants. Then think about your interaction with society and your personal relationships.

PROPHETIC PRAYER

I pray for you today:

  1. May you be blessed with the spirit of honesty and truthfulness in the name of Jesus
  2. The Lord will uproot the seed of dishonesty in this nation
  3. He will frustrate every plan of dishonest leaders
  4. The Lord will deliver you from the plot of dishonest men and women
  5. He will protect you against their evil schemes

So shall it be in Jesus’ name. Amen
