The Kogi State Government has described the on going construction of the 16km Ganaja- Otokiti bye pass road as a road for the future infrastructural development of the state.

Capt Idris Wada, stated this when he inspected on- going work on the road, said when completed aside opening the State capital to a new town, it will aid urban development in the new Lokoja town being planned by the State Government.

The road project which is being funded by the bond project, Capt Wada disclosed was slowed down due to issues of funding and inability to access some portion of the road, however disclosed that the work will make more progress now with increased funding to the contractor and thanked the military for their cooperation and understanding to release the disputed portion of the road.

Capt Wada said the road when completed will be among the 58 road projects inherited, and others began and completed by the present administration, said the attention on road by the government is in the realization that it is key to infrastructural development.

Capt Wada urged the people to access the hinterland across the State and to see the efforts the State Government is putting into opening up roads across the State to ease movement of goods and people.
Earlier in his remarks, Mr. Godwin Onamah, Kogi State Commissioner for Works, said the work was earlier slowed down due to challenges of funds and inability to take total control of the stretch of the 16km road.

The Commissioner however expressed satisfaction with the contracting firm, said efforts is being made to ensure that the contractor makes up for the lost time.

Also speaking, Engr. Suleiman Mohammed, of Ceezali Engineering Nigeria Limited, the contractor handling the project, assured of delivery a world class road project to the State Government and in good time. He said the earth work and culvert is almost completed, commended the release of funds by the State Government to aid the early completion of the road project.
