The Kogi State chapter of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria, YSFON, have shifted the screening of budding talented boxers in the state to Friday, May 22.

The state chairman of YSFON, Alhaji Nnda Umar Collins explained that the shift was due to poor turn-out last Saturday with only seven attending the screening exercise.

He explained that the state and the organizers resolved to hold the screening on May 22 with hopes to recruit young boxers into the state boxing team.

Earlier, Alhaji Umar said the exercise scheduled to take place at the Kogi Township Stadium is opened to boxers within the age of 13-23.

According to him, Kogi will alongside at least 12 states participate in the proposed Nigeria Grassroots Boxing League which will be sponsored by the manufacturers of energy drink – Bullet.

Successfully screened boxers from the exercise will represent the state in the yet-to-be-scheduled league with sponsors, Bullet to bore the wages of coaches and boxers in the course of the competition.
