Topic: Investing time on your Child [Sunday April 26, 2015]

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” –Ecclesiastics 3:3

The world we live in now forces young children to mature quickly. It exposes them to information and activities that were hitherto restricted to adults. They then learn behaviours and habits that may go unnoticed till it is aggravated and becomes almost an impossible case. Recently, someone asked if she could tell her close relative that her son was a drunk and heavy smoker.

Apparently, the mother of the child thinks of her son as all perfect, and so, hadn’t noticed that he had developed a habit that desperately needed correction. This is because today, there is little to no time for proper discussions; no avenue for parents to truly be familiar with their children. So, the children try to sort themselves out; learning to live on their own, even with you around.

In a bid to make it in personal businesses and careers, some parents have neglected their first call of duty which is the home. They never spend time with the children; so, they know less and less about them. I believe this is one of the reasons why parents’ efforts seem to yield less and less positive results in their children. Priorities need to be reordered.

No matter how busy or demanding your daily task is, you must ensure that you seek after the welfare of your children. Know what’s going on in their lives, how they fare at school and issues they would like to discuss with someone more knowledgeable, which should be you. The wellbeing of your children should be most paramount to you, and your time with them will do major justice. You will not miss it!

Remain Blessed!
