There is palpable tension in Rivers state as INEC collates results of the National Assembly election rerun in the state..

Interestingly, for the first time in many years, Amaechi and Wike met ‘eye-to-eye’ at Mile One Police Division, Diobu, Port Harcourt.

Reports said a certain Electoral Officer in-charge of a Ward in Port Harcourt Constituency who is working for a certain political party had taken refuge at the Police station for fear of being lynched by the already anxious mob.

Minutes after the INEC ad-hoc staff surfaced at the police station, Amaechi, the DG of NIMASA, Dakuku Peterside and acting Managing Director of NDDC, Ibim Semenitari arrived the political station.

Wike few minutes after Amaechi’s arrival stormed the station and confronted the minister, wanting to know what he and his team were doing at the station.

He also asked Peterside and Semenitari why they chose to be in Port Harcourt and at the police station when they were supposed to be in their respective LGAs.

Nevertheless, the anxiety continues as Rivers await the outcome of the re-run elections.
