Topic: Stay Focused [Teens Open Heavens 15, July 2018]
Memorise: He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. Psalm 112:7
Read: Psalm 112:6-8 (KJV)
Bible In One Year: Psalm 17-18, Acts 19:1-20
MESSAGE:
One lesson you must take seriously if you want to reach your goal is never allow the praises or criticisms of those around you to destabilize you. A man offended his king and his king wanted to kill him, but first, he told him to carry a cup filled to the brim with water down the town square with the instructions that if he spilled a drop he will be killed, if not, his life will be spared. In the town square were people lined up on his left and right sides, and as he walked past, the people on the right side praised him while those on the left side spoke discouraging words to him.
This man successfully carried the cup without spilling any drop. When he was asked for which side helped him, he said he actually didn’t notice anyone on his right or left because he was carrying his life in his hands. Be focused. Tune off the voices and distractions around you. Focus only on Jesus, and the promises in His Word.
Key Point: When you chase three rats going in three directions, you end up catching none. Focus on your goal and you will achieve it.

Hymn 2
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4.But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
