Topic: Misplaced Requests [Teens Open Heavens 18, June 2018]

Memorise: For He satisfieth the longing soul, and fillet the hungry soul with goodness. Psalm 107:9

Read: 2 Kings 5:5-7 (KJV)

5 And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.

6 And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy.

7 And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me.

Bible In One Year: Nehemiah 7-8, Acts 3

MESSAGE:

One reason many needs or desire are not Merissa because they are misplaced. Misplaced requests never get to their destination. It is essential that requests be properly channelled to the appropriate quarters for action to be taken over them. Sometimes, children make good but misplaced requests to parents. Some things are way beyond your parents.
All your needs should be channelled to God. Although parents are to provide for their children, they must not be turned into your source. When you have a need, before you make it known to your parents, tell your source. If you cultivate the habit of going to God concerning every need, it will save you time and bring you desired results.

Action Point: Re-address your misdirected requests to the appropriate person, the El-Shaddai.

Hymn 1
1. My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!

2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire !

3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

4. When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll;
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Oh, bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!
