Topic: What Is Your Identity? [Teens Open Heavens 20 October 2018]

Memorise: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new.”2 Corinthians 5:17 Read: 1 John 3:1-3 (KJV) Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 3-4, 2 Thessalonians 3 MESSAGE: Whether we like it or not, everybody has an identity. Sometimes, we choose our identity consciously, at other times, we choose our identity unconsciously. What really determines our identity is who or what we attach ourselves to. Some people attach themselves to music, so we know them as musicians. Some attach themselves to football, so we identify them as footballers. Some on the other hand attach themselves to partying, so we identify them as party junkies. What you attach yourself to determines what is offered to you. For example, you wouldn’t offer a musician a place in a football team because he is not expected to sing the ball into the goalpost. There are two ultimate beings that everyone is identified with. It is either you are identified with Christ, or you are identified with the Devil. If you claim to be a Christian, but you don’t consciously identify with Christ, you will automatically be identified with the devil. So don’t be surprised when people are inviting you to party with them in the club, or the opposite sex is inviting you to enter into an illicit relationship with them. Key Point: It is easier to remain a Christian when you make public your identity as a Christian. Also Read: Teen Open Heaven Daily Devotional by Pastor Adeboye Hymn 11: 1. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus, Ye soldiers of the Cross! Lift high His royal banner, It must not suffer loss. Stand up, stand up for Jesus, The solemn watchword hear; If while yelling sleep he suffers, Away with shame and fear. Where’re yeah meet with evil, Within you or without, Charge for the God of battles, And put the foe to rout. 3. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus! Stand in His strength alone; The arm of flesh will fail you, Ye dare not trust your own. Put on the gospel armour, And watching unto prayer; Where duty calls, or danger, Be never wanting there. 4. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus! The strife will not be long; This day the noise of battle, The next the victor’s song.
