Open Heavens for Teens

Topic: The Loving God [Teens’ Open Heavens 26th, March 2018]

Memorise: Behold, what manner of love hath the Father bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not. 1 John 3:1

Read: 1 John 3:1-2 (KJV)

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Bible In One Year: Joshua 16-18, Luke 5:1-16

MESSAGE:

Our God is friendly, and He takes steps to cultivate His relationships with His friends. The problem is that not many of us who claim to be born-again have reciprocated His moves towards us in the area of friendship. He is a loving God. Because of how loving He is, He knows your weaknesses and your strengths and is willing to come down to your level to help and keep you company.

One memory verse tells us that the love of God has given us a change of name – from children of the devil into sons of God (1 John 3:1). His love also ensures that you are not disappointed. One reason why He has not fully brought the weight of our sins upon us is because of His love. God loves you. His love has made Him ignore certain things you did wrong; you certainly did not escape His judgement because you were smart. His love ensures that you are disciplined so that you can achieve His purpose for your life. How are you responding to God’s love today?

Prayer Point: Father, thank you for your love, help me to love You and my brethren like You love me.

Hymn 10:

1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a Friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our ev’ry weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer!

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield You;
You wilt find a solace there.
