Memorise: “4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: 5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.” – Philippians 3:4-6

Read: 1 John 5:14-15

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Bible In One Year: Psalm 85-87, Romans 9

MESSAGE:

In this world of practicality, many people have greatly underestimated the power of prayers. This is a pity because they have no idea what they are missing when they relegate prayer to just a sport. Many people think that prayer is a spiritual thing and foes not have any effect on physical things. There is nothing farther from the truth than this. As unreasonable as it may sound, the truth is, the spiritual controls the physical and prayer is the key into the spiritual.

A man died and left Hus wife with plenty of debt to pay to a foreign company. She cane to me crying because she had no means of paying the debt. We prayed a simple prayer. The next week, that company wrote a letter to her saying they had made a mistake and they were the ones owing her husband money. If you truly knew the power of prayer, you should pray always.

Reflection:
How often do you pray?

Hymn 16:

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose
    Hear thy gracious Savior say;
    Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray.
  2. Principalities and power
    Mustering their unseen array
    Wait for the unguarded hours:
    Watch and pray
  3. Gird the heavenly armor on,
    Wear it ever night and day;
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    Watch and pray.
  4. Hear the victors who o’ercame,
    Still they mark each warrior’s way;
    All with one sweet voice exclaim,
    Watch and pray.
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou loves to obey;
    Hide within thy heart His word:
    Watch and pray.
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may be sent down:
    Watch and pray.
