Memorise: But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. Luke 12:48

Read: Galatians 4:4-5

  1. But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
  2. To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Bible In One Year: Hosea 12-14; Revelation 3

MESSAGE:

A yardstick is used to measure the quality of something. Humans concentrate on the strength or vigour with which a fellow carries out an activity, but God looks beyond that. He has a yardstick for checking the quality of what a fellow does; He looks at the heart and the motive behind any act or service. So you must be careful because God cannot be deceived. If you are serving God and the people around you praise you for your deeds, you need to be careful because the ultimate commendation must come from God.

Also, you need to know that God will not just examine you by what you have done, but based on what you could have done. In other words, you will be judged based on the talents and ability given to you. Luke 12:48 b says; To whom much is given, much is required. So, if God gives you an assignment, He requires that your result will be in accordance with the ability given to you to carry out the assignment. So, when next you decide to do something for God, search your heart to be sure of the reasons you are doing it. Are your motives genuine? Are your actions in line with Gods word? If not, your service may go unrewarded.

Action Point:

Watch your motive before you do anything for God and anyone.

Hymns: Stand Up! Stand Up For Jesus

  1. Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
    Ye soldiers of the cross;
    Lift high His royal banner,
    It must not suffer loss:
    From victory unto victory,
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.
  2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
    The trumpet call obey:
    Forth to the mighty conflict,
    In this His glorious day;
    Ye that are men now serve Him
    Against unnumbered foes;
    Let courage rise with danger,
    And strength to strength
    oppose.
  3. Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
    Stand in His strength alone,
    The arm of flesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own;
    Put on the gospel armour,
    And watching unto prayer,
    When duty calls or danger,
    Be never wanting there.
  4. Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
    The strife will not be long;
    This day the noise of battle,
    The next the victor’s song;
    To him that overcometh
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    Shall reign eternally.
