“And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid. And the woman conceived and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.” – 2 Kings 4:16-17 (KJV)

Beloved, you have to be careful about prophetic words because they are powerful. When prophetic utterances are released from a genuine man of God and there is a landing place in any person’s life, God goes out of His way to honour it. Often, prophetic words are not honoured, not because the Word is not from God, but because the person to whom the Word is sent did not receive it.

The book of Isaiah 55:11 says, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth, it shall not return unto me void, but shall accomplish that which I please, and prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”(KJV). So if the word is not received, it will not fall because there is no landing place. But if there is somebody crazy enough to believe it when it does not make sense, God honours it and brings it to pass.

Let us look at the example in 2 Kings 4:17. The Bible says that the Shunammite woman took care of Elisha. Elisha said this woman will never go unrewarded. “Woman, what do you need?” The woman said, “I don’t need anything I am only doing what am doing because I love God.” But Elisha’s servant told him that this woman had no child. How come the woman did not request a child? She thought there was no way God would remember her again. Probably she was old and perhaps her husband was old too and could no more perform. But Elisha spoke prophetically and God honoured it.

Are there situations in your life that you think can no longer change? I dare you to believe. It will surely come to pass because God’s word cannot return to Him void.
